Do you find yourself hitting the snooze button every morning? Skipping breakfast? Perhaps you’re often late in the mornings and find you spend the rest of the day trying to catch up. Sound familiar?

Whilst hitting snooze and getting a bit of extra sleep may feel great in the moment, most people often end up regretting this decision (I know I do).

The way you spend your morning sets the tone for the whole day, and if you do each day right, you’ll do life right! This is why starting the morning the right way, with a morning ritual, is so damn important.

A Morning what?

Wondering what a morning ritual is? No, it’s not dancing around a fire whilst playing music with sticks. Although, if that’s what you want your morning ritual to be, I won’t stop you!

What I mean by a morning ritual, is a sacred time you cultivate to empower you to go through each day with intention and clarity. It could be as simple as taking 15 minutes each morning, to sit outside with your cup of coffee or tea, and write down your goals and intentions for that day, a couple of minutes to write what you are grateful for and taking 10 minutes to meditate, or half an hour for exercise.

It can be whatever you want it to be, providing it’s going to help you make the best out of your day.

Designing a morning that nourishes your mind, body, and spirit will create more peace and vitality in the end, leaving you feeling better overall and making it easier for you to achieve what you want to achieve.

Design a morning ritual that’s right for you

It’s important to remember that what might work for one person, might not work for you and that’s okay. So, design a morning ritual that will fit in with you, your life and your goals. By doing this, you will be more likely to stick to your new morning ritual and get where you want to be.

For example, if you’re more of a night owl, getting up at 4am may not suit you, and that’s okay. As long as you create a morning ritual and make space for such ritual each and every morning, you’re on the pathway to success.

Morning ritual inspiration

Want to start a morning ritual, but need a little inspiration?

Here’s what most morning rituals consist of (not necessarily in this order):

  • Exercise
  • Meditation
  • Reading
  • Journaling
  • To-do / Goals Lists
  • Positive Affirmations
  • Gratitude
  • Healthy Breakfast

Some people say, that your morning ritual should energise your body, mind and spirit. So, think about some ways in which you can do that.

My morning ritual

Wondering what my morning ritual consists of?

I start each morning with:

  • Mediation / Prayer (which includes my affirmations/choices)
  • Reflection
  • Journaling
  • Exercise (usually at a gym)
  • Consumption of Personal Development Content

As you can see, there are many different types of morning rituals, and how you spend your morning, really can make or break your day.

It’s important to remember that you’re in control of the way you start your day, so you have the power to make it great! You can train yourself to feel energetic, happy, excited and to radiate positive energy and vitality. By introducing a morning ritual into your life, you condition yourself to start your day the right way, to feel the emotions you want to feel, to be happy, grateful and loving, and to be more productive and achieve much more than you ever thought possible.
